Inspired by the shutting down of the local branch of the public library in our village, and by the front lawn libraries seen in American neighborhoods, we’ve decided to make all our reference material available for lending to the people of the village.

The mateial is roughly sorted into three categories, with several subcategories for each. A lot of the books could have been placed in more than one category. The three main categories are Ecology, Politics, and Culture. Subcategories for Ecology: Energy, Climate change, Environmentalism, Farming. Subcategories for Politics: Socialism, City planning, Economics, Democracy. Subcategories for Culture: Film and filmmakers, Art and artists, Education, Collective work. We try to mix practical guides and DIY handbooks with theoretical debate.

Portable library of the Workers Educational Association

The books come from the money we make in our study group at the workers educational association, ABF, which incidentally also ran a library in the nearby town of Ängelholm during the early part of the 20th century. Some books have also been donated, by associations, publishers, writers and friends of the cinema. Let us know if you feel like contributing!
